Granite washbasin - a purchase for life

Granite is a popular natural stone. Its special properties make it the preferred material for countertops, tiles, kitchen accessories or washbasins. Unlike marble, granite belongs to the so-called hard stones. It is hard in the proverbial sense, stone-old and is considered particularly resilient and resistant to scratches, impacts and heat. This is one of the reasons why it is so popular and frequently used in kitchens and bathrooms. Granite is mined almost worldwide. In Germany, for example, there are deposits in the Fichtelgebirge, in the Bavarian Forest and in the Upper Palatinate. Granite is formed in the depths of the earth, three kilometers or more away, by magma solidifying under the earth's crust over a very long period of time. This is why granite is also called magmatic rock or deep rock, which is interesting for scientists because it provides insights into the earth's interior. The molten rock tries to rise through fissures in the earth's crust, fails to rise to the earth's surface, cools and crystallizes into granite. As the earth's plates move, the granite reaches the earth's surface over millions of years. As it cools, the rock acquires the typical pattern of granite. Its three main components are responsible for its distinctive coloring: gray quartz, white feldspar and black mica. Important to know: No two granite stones are alike! Consequently, every granite washbasin is unique! If you are interested in such a sink, be sure to inspect the stone sink before buying.

Granite washbasins are available at Spa Ambiente in round, square or oval, as a small hand washbasin for the guest toilet or double washbasin for the main bathroom.

How to properly clean and maintain granite washbasins

By nature, granite washbasins are easy to maintain. However, as a natural stone, granite has special requirements that you should take into account if you want to enjoy its natural beauty for a long time. Granite is porous and can soak up liquids. You should prevent this by impregnating the granite at least once a year with a special agent to obtain a beading effect. It's best to wipe out your sink after each use, so that deposits can't build up in the first place. For cleaning, ideally use a granite cleaner that is adjusted to the PH value of the stone. Never use cleaners containing citrus or vinegar, as these can damage and dull the surface. Spa Ambiente offers a wide range of products for the professional care and cleaning of natural stone. You can be sure to get the right product. In addition to care sprays and polishes, there are also multi-part care sets for cleaning and protection in one.
